Mikko Hirvonen wins Acropolis Rally despite Sébastien Ogier's best efforts• Finland's Hirvonen cuts Loeb's overall lead to seven points • Ogier and Jari-Matti Latvala finish second and third

Mikko Hirvonen sealed a comfortable victory in the 56th Acropolis Rally of Greece after holding off a challenge from Sébastien Ogier. It was the 28-year-old Ford driver's eighth World Rally Championship victory as he finished the final stage 1min 12.9sec ahead of Frenchman, for whom it was the best result of his career.
It allowed Hirvonen to close the gap on the Championship leader Sébastien Loeb, who crashed out on Saturday, to seven points in the overall standings ahead of the eighth round, the Rally of Poland, which starts on June 26.
Hirvonen's team-mate Jari-Matti Latvala took third place after finishing 32.1sec behind Ogier, completing a remarkable recovery after going off the road on Friday, the opening day.
