International Festival of Architecture Schools, Loutraki 2013.

The Loutraki Festival of Architecture is an international
Workshop, an opportunity to discuss together about Architecture as detector of
changes and opportunities for urban settlements with a valuable heritage and a
great landscape. The Festival promotes the City of Loutraki as a laboratory for ideas, an
international venue for studying and debating about new forms of city
governance able to balance urban context, natural environment, heritage and
landscape. Meetings, conferences, international guest lectures, cross-cultural
exchanges and collaborations between Schools of Architectures will encourage
dialogue and discussion about different design approaches.
The annual workshop
will be attended by students and professors of Architecture and Urban Planning
focusing on urban processes involving Loutraki and the Isthmus
of Corinth . The goal is to work together successfully, to acquire
proposals for future quality improvements and to think about transformation
processes for a new urban cohesion. The projects can be useful to the
Municipality decision-makers, to orientate them towards adopting adequate
decisions about urban configurations. The topics discussed at Loutraki Festival
are established by the Municipality that acts as a partner and sponsor of the
workshop.
The purpose of this cooperation is to make new proposals and enhance
the dialogue with local people in order to explore the sites potentials. The 2013
selected topics are: a) the Waterfront of Loutraki and b) the dismissed Railway
Station of Aghii Teodorii (currently included in the city of Loutraki ). The two topics represent
opportunities to collect proposals for new physical and functional
configurations and for new forms of cultural heritage protection involving both
local population and economic operators.
This
workshop provides a unique experience to investigate issues surrounding the
urban cultural landscape. The workshop provides learning opportunities in the
form of design studio explorations, seminars and discussions, field trips and
video presentations. The central focus of the workshop is a design studio where
issues are explored and creative energies are nurtured.

Το Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Σχολών Αρχιτεκτονικής στο Λουτράκι προκύπτει από την ανάγκη να φιλοξενηθεί μια
διεθνής δεξαμενή σκέψης με την μορφή ενός
εργαστηρίου το οποίο θα αποτελεί ένα αισθητήρα αλλαγών και προσδοκιών
στην πλούσια σε ιστορία και τοπίο περιοχή
μας.
Το Φεστιβάλ με βάση
την πόλη του Λουτρακίου φιλοδοξεί να
αναδειχτεί ως μία εναλλακτική φωνή στο
διεθνή αρχιτεκτονικό διάλογο, και ως
σημείο αναφοράς για τη μελέτη των νέων μορφών οικιστικού σχεδιασμού, συμβάλλοντας έτσι στην δημιουργία μιας σχέσης
ισορροπίας μεταξύ του αστικού περιβάλλοντος, της πολιτιστικής κληρονομιάς και
του τοπίου.
Στο ετήσιο σεμινάριο
συμμετέχουν φοιτητές και καθηγητές της Αρχιτεκτονικής και του Αστικού Σχεδιασμού,
με έμφαση στον αστικό, περιαστικό και
εδαφικό σχεδιασμό.
Ο στόχος του εγχειρήματος είναι να πραχτούν προτάσεις και
μετασχηματισμοί αποτελώντας μία
μοναδική ευκαιρία για τη συλλογή ιδεών
με συνέδρια, διαλέξεις και εκθέσεις σε συνεργασία με συναφείς κλάδους, και
ανταλλαγές και συνεργασίες που ενθαρρύνουν το διάλογο και την συζήτηση σχετικά με τις διαφορετικές
κουλτούρες που εκπροσωπούνται από τις διεθνείς Σχολές Αρχιτεκτονικής.
Τα θέματα του εργαστήριου προκύπτουν κάθε χρόνο, αφού συζητηθούν με την δημοτική αρχή έτσι ώστε να
διευκολυνθεί η διάδοση των προτάσεων και η συζήτηση τους με τον τοπικό πληθυσμό,
προκειμένου να κατανοηθεί το δυναμικό των περιοχών καλύπτονται από τις μελέτες.
Φέτος τα αντικείμενα
του εργαστηριού περιλαμβάνουν την παραλιακή ζώνη του Λουτρακίου και τον
εγκαταλελειμμένο σιδηροδρομικό σταθμό των Αγίων Θεοδώρων περιπτώσεις, που
ενθαρρύνουν τόσο για την προώθηση της
δημιουργίας ενός ρεπερτορίου προτάσεων για τις νέες χρήσεις και λειτουργίες όσο
και για τις πιθανές πολιτικές για την
τόνωση της προστασίας της ιστορικής και περιβαλλοντικής κληρονομιάς, ενισχύοντας
την δυνατότητα της συμμετοχής των πολιτών και των οικονομικών φορέων.
